Description
Honey-sweetened sourdough discard cornbread!
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup sourdough starter (discard or active will work)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 + 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce (or sub greek yogurt)
- 12 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 + 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1 + 1/2 cups bread flour (can sub all purpose flour)
- 1 tso baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and grease a square baking pan with butter.
- Mix your whole milk with the apple cider vinegar. Allow to sit for 10 minutes, then stir in your melted butter, sourdough discard, and honey.
- In a separate bowl, mix together your dry ingredients, then fold them into the wet ingredients.
- Pour batter into your greased baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until top is golden brown and center is set. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
